The holidays are officially upon us.
The fall kicks off a variety of celebrations for all of us. From Yom Kippur and Diwali to Christmas and Kwanzaa, this time of year is full of reflection, family and paying it forward.
This has been an extremely difficult year. For many of us, the changes 2020 brought were tough.
Going into 2021, I’m sure we all want to press the reset button and try to move forward into what hopefully will be a better and brighter year. It’s also during this time many of us are trying to find small ways in which to make the world a better place, especially in the midst of chaos.
A small way to do that is to donate to ASTCT. I’ve written about it before, but I thought it would be appropriate before year’s end to reach out. There are plenty of ways we can all try to do a little good before the end of the year, but one way that is society-specific is to donate to ASTCT.
Our Giving Campaign goes to a variety of causes: travel grants to the TCT Meetings of ASTCT and CIBMTR, sponsorships for our Leadership Course, funding research of new investigators, etc. In this issue of eNews, you can read about one of our very impressive New Investigators, Dr. Stephen Persaud. His story is a great one, and his passion for cellular therapy all circles around his one true passion: helping people.
This fund is designed to elevate those who want to learn and grow. These recipients—people like Dr. Persaud—are our future.
While we exit 2020, and while we try to celebrate our beloved holidays, the best we can, I want us to look forward to a better and brighter future. With all of the things happening in the world this year, it gives me a little hope to know there are people out there who are still trying to make a difference.
So if you’re in the giving mood, think about giving to ASTCT.
